Firstly, I would like to say, big congratulations! If you’re on this page, you must be looking for a Newborn Photographer, Barnsley or Yorkshire area. Having a new little bundle of joy is a very exciting time and I am super excited for you. Newborn photography sessions are one of my most favorite, it is such privilege to document your new little person. The little fingers, tiny toes and wispy hair, all the little details that you will soon yearn to remember.
During this exciting time, it can also be somewhat stressful with all the things you must prepare for your new arrival and choosing the right photographer is an important part of planning to make sure you receive your perfect baby photographs.
Here is some information on my style of newborn photography and what to expect at your session:
There are vast styles of newborn photography out there. Some are more baby led or natural and others that include a number of poses and use of different props.
My style is probably a little bit on the fence, I absolutely adore a more natural approach to baby photography. This is where I will photograph your baby, just the way they are, in their natural sleeping positions, their yawns, little tiny fingers and toes, the way they just cuddle into your chest. But occasionally I like to include some more beautifully posed images of your baby.
WHEN IS BEST TO BOOK OUR NEWBORN SESSION?
It is best to book your session after your 20 week scan, I will pencil your due date into the diary and once your baby has arrived, you send me a message and we book your exact date of the shoot.
The best time to photograph your newborn is in the first 3 weeks. This is when your baby is still very sleepy and tend to be curled up just like they were before they were born. What amazing moments to capture!
However do not hesitate to get in touch if you’re baby has passed that mark, we can still get equally beautiful photos with older newborns. They may not be as curled up but you can still capture some beautiful moments with baby awake, maybe even smiling or showing off their little character.
HOW LONG WILL THE SESSION TAKE?
Every baby is different, some can be very sleepy and others enjoy more frequent feeds and cuddles. I do advise to allow up to 4 hours for your session for those extra feeds and comforting.
IS THERE ANYTHING I NEED TO BRING?
It can be so hard to make sure you have everything with you when you first start venturing out with your new arrival. Apart from your usual baby bag, I would advise to bring extra feeds if bottle feeding.
For parent and baby images or sibling images I would advise to wear something neutral, maybe white or cream.
WHERE WILL THE SESSION TAKE PLACE?
Your photography session will take place in the comfort of my own lovely home studio, on the outskirts of Barnsley, South Yorkshire. You can just sit back, relax and maybe enjoy some snacks with a brew (if you fancy it).
WHEN DO I VIEW MY PHOTOS?
Your in person viewing session is around 2 weeks after your photo shoot.
This is where I invite you back to my home studio, we watch a beautiful slideshow with all your images. Then we go through which images you would like to have printed and any wall art if you wish to purchase something to display in your home.
